Rangers Defeat Nebraska-Kearney 12-5 Behind Strong Pitching Performance from Brennan Bonati
Denver, Colo.: Regis used a strong pitching performance from senior Brennan Bonati to earn a 12-5 victory over Nebraska-Kearney in the series finale. Bonati pitched five complete innings of no-hit ball to claim his second win of the season.
Regis (13-12, 6-6 RMAC) put a five-spot on the board in the second inning which was highlighted by a three-run opposite field homerun by freshman Alex Haag. While Nebraska-Kearney (7-14, 5-7) was being shutdown by Bonati, the Rangers were able to plate four more in the third inning which included three runs on one error.
With the Rangers leading 11-0, the Lopers were able to score three runs in the sixth when after three walks to lead off the inning, Blake Cover was able to hit a two-run double to break up Bonati's no hitter.
Bonati went seven innings allowing just three hits while striking out five. Freshman Mike McElreath finished the game going two innings allowing two hits and one earned run. Freshman Dave Holland went 3-for-5. Junior Jesus Arzaga, junior J.T. Putt, and senior Michael Khouri each collected two hits, while the Rangers were led in RBI by Haag's three.
