Ranger Bats Cool as they drop two to CSU-Pueblo

Pueblo, Colo.: Regis' potent offense was stymied today as CSU-Pueblo swept the doubleheader 8-2 and 8-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference baseball action.  Regis which won seven of their first eight has now dropped six in a row.

Regis (7-7, 0-2 RMAC) could only muster six hits in the first game. CSU-Pueblo (10-4, 2-0 RMAC) starter Mario Mattivi went seven innings for his fourth victory of the season fanning seven Ranger batters scattering four hits and no earned runs.  Senior infielder Curtis Hornaday had two hits for Regis, while him and junior catcher Patrick Farrell each drove in one run.  Junior Darren Chavez was saddled with the loss, his second on the season.

Regis fell behind 6-0 after the first two innings and couldn't recover from that in falling in the second game 8-4.  The Rangers had nine hits led by two each from junior first baseman Chris Steinbeck, junior shortstop Jesus Arzaga, and junior outfielder J.T. Putt.  Junior Gerard Mohrmann went just 1 2/3 inning for his first loss of the season allowing six earned runs.

Regis and CSU-Pueblo will play two more games tomorrow with the first game beginning at 12 PM.
