Rangers Stumble Twice to CSU-Pueblo by scores of 13-8 and 10-3

Pueblo, Colo.: The Regis Ranger baseball team stumbled twice more against CSU-Pueblo on Sunday by scores of 13-8 and 10-3.  CSU-Pueblo swept the four-game weekend series to drop the Rangers to 7-9 overall.

Regis could only muster six hits against the Thunderwolves (12-4, 4-0 RMAC) of which two came off the bat of junior outfielder J.T. Putt.  Putt's fourth inning grand slam pulled the Rangers to within two runs after CSU-Pueblo scored eight runs in the first three innings.  Regis got to within one run after a one run sixth inning.  The Thunderwolves responded by scoring five runs over the next two innings to win 13-8.

Senior outfielder Michael Khouri drove in two runs on one hit.  Brennan Bonati was saddled with his third loss of the season registering 4 2/3 innings allowing seven earned runs.

Regis jumped out early in the second game with three runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run bomb by Putt, his second in as many games.  Unfortunately, Regis would only collect one more hit the rest of the way while CSU-Pueblo was able to score 10 runs.

Putt, junior first baseman Chris Steinbeck, and freshman third baseman Dave Holland were the only Rangers to collect a hit.  Junior Anthony Musielak went four innings for his first loss of the season.  He allowed four earned runs on just four hits.

Regis will try and break their current eight-game skid as they travel to Golden, Colo. to take on the Colorado School of Mines next weekend in a four-game RMAC series.
