Regis and Colorado Christian Split Two Games; Finish Second Game in Blinding Snow
Denver, Colo.: The Colorado weather went from sunny and nice to cloudy and then finally just before the final two outs of the Regis-Colorado Christian baseball doubleheader blinding snow and wind. Regis won the first game by a score of 11-3 behind a pitching gem from freshman Steve Falconi before falling to Colorado Christian 8-7 in the nightcap.
Falconi evened his record at 2-2 going seven innings scattering just three hits and allowing no earned runs while striking out four and giving out two free passes. Falconi got a lot of help from the Ranger offense as they pounded out 16 hits including three each from junior J.T. Putt and freshman Dave Holland. Regis scored at least on run in seven of the eight innings including three each in the first two innings.
Putt drove in three runs for Regis (16-18, 9-12 RMAC), while senior second baseman Mike Benton went 2-for-3 with two RBI. All but one Ranger who stepped to the plate got at least one hit.

Regis led 5-3 after three innings but the Cougars would not go quietly as they took advantage of seven walks and scored three runs in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead.
Regis responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a groundout to first base by junior first baseman Chris Steinbeck scoring Benton. CCU was able to pull ahead again as they scored two in the fifth inning to take an 8-6 lead. Senior Curtis Hornaday scored after Steinbeck grounded out to the pitcher to close to within 8-7 after six innings.
Regis was unable to plate anyone in the bottom of the seventh and with heavy snow falling and the pitcher barely able to see the plate, CCU's Brett Myatt, who pitched a complete game, was able to get the final two Ranger batters to fly out to centerfield to record his fourth victory of the season.
Hornaday and Benton were each 2-for-3 in the game as the Rangers were only able to produce seven hits against Myatt. Senior Michael Khouri drove in three on a bases clearing double, while Steinbeck and Benton each drove in two.
Senior Brennan Bonati (2-5) was saddled with the loss going 4 1/3 giving up six earned runs also walking six.
