Bobby Arranaga and Jimmy Spierings Tie for 25th at the Northwest Super Regional

Petaluma, Calif.: Senior Bobby Arranaga and sophomore Jimmy Spierings finished up the three-day Northwest Super Regional tied for 25th with an aggregate 233 score each. The two were competing as individuals as the Regis team did not make the NCAA Division II Northwest Super Regional.

Each of them shot a 77 during the first round, while in the second round Arranaga shot a 75 and Spierings equaled his first round score of 77. The final round was a little tougher as Spierings shot a 79 and Arranaga an 81.

The tournament, played at Adobe Creek Golf Club (Par 72, 6840 Yards), was won by Western New Mexico's Scott Crichton with a 3-over 219. UC-Colorado Springs won the team title with an 11-over score of 875 to out pace Western New Mexico by 23 strokes.

Four Men's Golf Student-Athletes Earn RMAC Academic Recognition

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Four Regis University men's golfers earned RMAC All-Academic honors as voted on by the conference's sports information directors. Senior Bobby Arranaga and sophomore Jimmy Spierings were named to the first team. Senior Blake Sharamitaro earned second team honors while junior Chase Chaldekas was named to the honor roll.

Joining Arranaga and Spierings on the first team were Academic Golfer of the Year Greg Pool and three others. Pool's teammate Scott Crichton was named first team along with Colorado School of Mines golfer Chris Carey and Brian Morefeld of UC-Colorado Springs.
