Drew Markhardt begins his second year as a graduate assistant in the sports medicine department at Regis. He will be pursuing a master's degree in sports psychology. Last year, he worked with men's soccer and baseball, while this season he will work with cross country and baseball.
He came to the school having graduated and received a Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training from Augustana College in 2010.
While studying at AC, Markhardt served in an internship as the student athletic trainer in the fall and winter of 2009. His responsibilities included women's soccer and women's basketball. During his internship, he maintained duties of sports medicine services, evaluated, treated, and rehabilitated a variety of athletic injuries.
Along with being the student assistant at AC, Markhardt also participated in undergraduate student assistant trainer rotations from fall 2007 until 2009. While doing rotations, he administered sports medicine services to all varsity sports on campus.
Markhardt currently lives in Lakewood, Colo. and enjoys taking advantage of what Colorado has to offer by skiing, hiking, mountain biking and camping. He has also worked as a camp counselor for Sioux Falls Family YMCA and volunteered at Augustana Sports Medicine Club where he helped with fundraising and event staffing.
Markhardt has certifications with the American Heart Association that certify him in CPR and AED use. He is a Certified First Responder that allow him to provide sports medicine coverage to local youth sporting events and during Augustana athletic clinics. Also, he is a Certified Wild Land Forest Fire Fighter where he aids in fire rescue procedures.
