The 2009-10 academic year marks the 15th year for Barbara Schroeder as the Director of Athletics at Regis University. Schroeder finished her one-year term as President of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) in October.
In addition to her duties at Regis and with NACWAA, Schroeder was recently selected to serve as an Executive Mentor for the NCAA Fellows Program and also currently serves on the NCAA Division II Diversity Issues Project Team.
Schroeder's vast knowledge of the inner workings of intercollegiate athletics earned her a spot on the NCAA Division II Management Council (1997-2001) in which she served as Vice Chair. That role also led to her appointment as Chair of the DII Championships Committee (1998-2000). In 2003, Schroeder was selected as one of 14 female athletic administrators nationwide (the lone selection from NCAA DII) to participate in the NACWAA Institute for Athletics Executives.
One of Schroeder's many honors occurred in 2005 when she was selected as the GeneralSports TURF Systems NCAA DII West Region Athletic Director of the year presented by the National Association of Collegiate Director's of Athletics (NACDA). In 2004, the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports inducted Schroeder into their Hall of Fame and in 1997 she was given the Dorothy Mauk Pioneer Award by Sportswomen of Colorado and was honored by that same organization in 2006 with the Leadership Award. She was honored as NACWAA's District VI Administrator of the Year in 1998 and was twice selected as the Administrator of the Year at Regis University in 1995 and again in 2000.
Schroeder has previously served the Rangers in the capacities of Associate Athletic Director (1987-95), Head Women's Basketball Coach from 1981 to 1990 - posting a 134-118 win-loss record - and as the Head Women's Tennis Coach from 1981 to 1984. All told, she is in her 29th year with the Regis University Athletic Department.
A native of East Alton, Illinois, Schroeder earned both her Bachelor's (1976) and Master's (1978) Degrees from Western Illinois University. During her collegiate career at WIU, Schroeder competed on both the women's basketball and tennis teams.
