Newton played guard from 1982-86. Newton was a contributor from the beginning, playing in 112 out of a possible 113 games in her four-year career. She led the team in total assists three years and had 564 career assists for a 5.0 average. Newton averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 boards per game in her career. Regis went 66-47 during her tenure, including the first 20-win team in program history (1989-90). Newton graduated as the school's all-time leader in assists, and ranked in top 10 in points (9th), field goals (9th) and free throws (6th).
