Stout was a four-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference choice as a forward for Joe B. Hall's Ranger squads from 1959-63. Stout also earned Catholic Digest Little-All American honors in 1962-63. After graduating from Regis, Stout was heavily involved in athletic administration. He was/is National Chair of the AAU Coaches Education Program (1992-94), and Chair of the AAU Sullivan Committee (1992-current). He also served on the Kentucky chapter of the NFL Hall of Fame committee and is a current board member of the Kentucky Sports Authority.
