Etienne Materre Hitting

Seniors Etienne Materre and Dan Kozloski Earn First Team All-Conference; Six Others Named to Second Team and Honorable Mention

Colorado Springs, Colo.: Senior outfielder Etienne Materre and senior designated hitter/pitcher Dan Kozloski both earn First Team All-RMAC as voted on by the conference coaches. Peter Whatley, Chris Steinbeck, Jordan Bruns, Tyler Hageman and Anthony Musielak all earned Second Team All-RMAC, while Curtis Hornaday was tabbed as honorable mention.

Materre, who has started every game possible at Regis, was named to the first team for the third consecutive season. He was named second team as a freshman, in the same season that he won the RMAC Freshman of the Year. This season Materre, from Highlands Ranch, is hitting .386 and leads the team in triples (3) and stolen bases (13). Materre is seen throughout the career record books at Regis. He is first in games played and started (210), most at bats (788), runs scored (209) and hits (290). Materre is second in total bases (370) and also stands seventh in doubles (45), batting average (.368) and triples (10). He also leads the team with 25 multi-hit games.

Rangers Fall 16-8 in First Game of RMAC Tournament

Grand Junction, Colo.: The Regis Rangers fell behind 10-0 to Nebraska-Kearney after three innings and couldn't recover succumbing to the Lopers 16-8. UNK scored six runs in the first inning and four more in the third chasing Ranger starter Anthony Musielak after just 2 2/3 innings.

The Rangers chipped away at the lead in the fourth inning when senior catcher Peter Whatley hit a three-run homerun to plate Dan Kozloski and Max Regalado. Unfortunately, the Lopers responded by scoring three of their own to lead by 10 runs.

Regis scored two runs each in the seventh and eighth innings but it wasn't enough. Seniors Dan Kozloski and Jordan Bruns each had three hits to pace the Rangers. Senior Etienne Materre collected two hits while fellow senior Peter Whatley had a game-high four RBI.

Regis drops to 27-21 on the season and will play tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the winner of #1 Mesa State and #6 New Mexico Highlands.
